ExecutivesAdrian Sexton Executive Vice President, DigitalAdrian Sexton joined Participant Mexia as Executive Vice President, Digital in January 2007. He is responsible for overseeing the company's expansion into global media, the production of new programs and digital distribution. Sexton recently worked on CHICAGO 10, CHARLIE WILSON'S WAR, THE KITE RUNNER and, earlier, the DVD release of the Academy Award®-winning documentary AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH. Sexton comes to Participant from TAG Strategic, a digital media and entertainment agency he co-founded with EMI veteran Ted Cohen. TAG’s diverse client roster has included Lionsgate, Qualcomm, Sandisk and LivePlanet. Before forming TAG, Sexton headed Digital Media at Lionsgate, where he oversaw the day-to-day operations, production, media planning and business development for digital and mobile properties. His duties encompassed theatrical, home entertainment, television, international and physical studios. He oversaw the digital campaigns for such movies as the Best Picture Academy Award ® -winning CRASH, Oscar®-winning MONSTER'S BALL, as well as FAHRENHEIT 9/11. Sexton identified multiple-platform marketing, distribution and sales opportunities for the studio’s 8000+ title film library in such high-growth markets as broadband, mobile, digital cinema, peer-to-peer and IPTV. Lionsgate’s market capitalization rose from $60 million to $1.2 billion during Sexton’s tenure; and he was part of the team which secured the $350 million credit facility to acquire Artisan Entertainment. Prior to Lionsgate, Sexton was the New Media Director at Mediapact Capital, a media management and investment capital firm. His professional experience also includes work in television at Sony Pictures Entertainment, production and development at HBO Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Saban Entertainment. A frequent media presenter, Sexton delivered the studio keynote at the Opening Forum of the 60th Anniversary of the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, as well as keynotes at 2007 Digital Hollywood, 2006 Intel Viiv launch in Tokyo and 2006 Forrester conference in Brazil. Sexton is also an arts advisory member of non-profits American Democracy Institute, Games For Change, Film Independent and its Los Angeles Film Festival. Additionally, he is on the Interactive Media Peer Group Awards Committee for the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and a new media council member of the Producers Guild of America. Sexton graduated with dual bachelor degrees in Government and English from Cornell University, and received his Masters from the University of Southern California as a Phi Kappa Phi fellow. How he got here: Having come from a content background, I've always believed that the digital path has offered the most unique opportunities to involve more people in the creation process. For me, Participant challenges the status quo of Hollywood, and media in general, to tell a different, more redeeming tale. What is Participant (2.0): It's about letting go of the versioning or windowing of content. Our goal is to create a new type of experience, content and most importantly, a new type of user who shares, participates and most importantly gives back to the social action community we foster. Within this innovative experience, 'the community' is much more than simply just 'the consumer.' His inspiration: My newborn daughter, Sophie Skye, who was born on February 9, 2007, and my wife, Bonnie Graves, aka Girl Meets Grape. But also, any creator who wants to share a story that people will connect with, and, ideally, decide to share well beyond the watercooler.
