Patrick J. Kearney

Vice President, Technology & Platforms

Patrick joined Participant Media in August 2007 to oversee the development of a broadband social network and collection of applications designed to both enhance community involvement with social issues and facilitate easy, measurable and rewarding social change.  He is leveraging over 15 years experience deploying digital content and services to expand Participant's syndication and publishing reach into a wide range of established and emerging digital media platforms.

Prior to joining Participant, Patrick held senior management positions at software, network and content companies, including Sony Pictures, MediaOne/AT&T, Packetvideo and Schematic. He has produced content and services for every consumer-facing digital platform.

Patrick lives in Los Angeles with his daughter, and has an exhaustive collection of unreleased Prince music. He explains what he does by saying simply, "I put stuff on screens."

What was your first job? I used to mow yards for cash in the summer. With a push mower. My first job that generated paychecks was a busboy at a Shoney's restaurant. I considered it a step down the ladder.

If you could change one thing about yourself or the world, what would it be? Think how many of the world's problems could be addressed with manners and common courtesy. Look how a handful of people can taint an entire group with boorish, selfish actions. Fanaticism is not the way to endear others to your cause. Try smiling and talking.

Who or what serves as your greatest inspiration? I'm inspired by people who channel their passion and talents into creativity and set the bar higher than anyone thought it could go. There's quite a few. John Lennon, Steve Jobs, George Lucas.
